This photographic expedition, carefully designed by Cristiano Xavier and Henrique Murta, has as its main focus the immersion in the nature of an island of rare beauty, considered worldwide as a hot spot for landscape photography. The most spectacular places on the island will be visited based on a plan that included the aesthetic perception of the two photographers. In the search for the ideal scene, several factors were taken into account, such as tidal fluctuations, the orientation of the Sun, annual climate variation and displacement logistics.

Due to the great natural and scenic diversity, a wide range of photography techniques will be explored: panorama capture, long exposure with ND filters, aerial photography, night photography with light painting, etc. Along with the various techniques, different aesthetic perspectives will be addressed.

The itinerary includes stays in hotels with a high level of comfort located in points where you can contemplate and feel the typical landscape of Madeira. You will also be visited, in remote parts of the island, small villages that have stopped in time. Since the island belongs to Portugal, the local cuisine does not disappoint: the espetada, the swordfish fillet with banana and the honey cake will certainly be missed.

In addition to the island of Madeira, the photographic expedition will include two days in mainland Portugal, in which Lisbon and its surroundings will be visited. In Lisbon, we will walk through the historic center following the route of the charming Tram 28 and registering the charms of one of the most interesting European cities. We will also pass through the Sintra region, where you can contemplate forests amid granite massifs and some of the most beautiful rocky beaches in Portugal.

From the misty woods of Madeira to the colorful tiles of the heart of Lisbon: a photographic experience that goes beyond visual aesthetics.

Suggested photographic equipment*:

• camera, wide-angle to telephoto lenses, tripod, ND filter, polarizing filter, cable release and flash.
• Head torch or Hand torch.
• Hiking boot.
• Cap or hat.
• Warm clothes for nights and early mornings.
• Raincoat
• Sunscreen.
• Trail snacks (cereal or protein bars).
• Water bottle.

• In this trip, we consider the immersion in the culture and nature of the places fundamental for the creative process. Participants will be surprised by the beauty and multiplicity of the scenarios.
• The trip is intended for all those interested in photography and learning to see differently. The orientations, teachings and directions will be given according to the level and interest of each participant.
• The trip includes some hiking, therefore hiking boots are advised.
• Every trip that involves nature photography, needs an analysis of the climate and local conditions and this can change the day-to-day planning. The intention is to guarantee the best conditions and safety for the group.
• Accommodation in a double apartment depends on the availability of another participant opting for the same service. If there is no other person opting for the double room, the participant will stay in a single room, paying the supplement described in the item “Values”.
• Non Europeans need a valid passport.
• Health protocols will be applied in accordance with the legislation in force at the place and at the time of the trip, aiming at the well-being and safety of all.
